Do You Have Something to Say?
I am not an expert on blogs, as you will probably know. However, if there is someone out there who thinks they could give it a go, what I have learnt so far could be of use. For those of you who are not interested in starting a blog, please be entertained by the photos I took today on the way back from San Carlos village.

First of all, you need to create a blog. I signed up with www.blogger.com because it seemed to be the most popular. You will need to choose a template design but you can change that later on. Once you've produced your profile and your opening statement, you are ready to start writing articles and letting people know your blog url.
If, like me, you decide to put Google Ads on your blog, you will need to sign up to Google Adsense. Follow the instructions in your blogspot help section. If anyone needs help with the ad codes and html...don't ask me...oops...meant to say, ask away. I couldn't fathom anything at all at first but it's amazing what you can get your head around when you have to.
The ads which will appear on your blog will relate to what you write about. The content should be as relevant to your blog as possible, if you want to make money. I have, however, covered my old house in Sheffield, finance, avacado dip, the war and banana polterguists! My ads have varied a lot from bread machines to Christian ads stating 'The End is Nigh' !!! I am probably not going to be making a fortune out of my ads but I'd rather write what I want to write. After all, this blog is supposed to be about my life in Ibiza so it will cover a very broad spectrum of subjects. I'm not supposed to disclose my Google Adsense income but if you know the smallest American currency unit, you know what I earnt yesterday! If you were an avid collector of trainers and all you wrote about was trainers, your ads would be about trainers and would always relate to your blog and your readers; only those interested in trainers would be reading your blog.

You get paid by Google every time someone clicks a link and subsequently opens an advertiser's website, every time someone does a Google search in the search box and subsequently opens a website, and every time someone signs up for one of Google's services, such as Google Adsense, via your blog.
Even if you don't earn much from your blog (like me so far!), it's nice to produce something for yourself which your friends and family can read. If you've not got a lot of money and are wracking your brain trying to think of a way to bump up your income, do it, especially if you have a unique idea. Are you particularly good at something? Are you an expert at something? Do you have unique knowledge of something? Even if it is just that you are brilliant at fitting car sterio systems, know how to cut hair, can make your own clothes, paint murals, play a musical instrument, travel around the world, write peoms, read a lot of books....anything at all. If you think you have a string to your bow, a blog might be a good idea for you.
Good luck and contact me if you need any help.
